A One-Stop Shop for Mating Parts and Assembly Components

United CGTR knows that when you come to us for assembly components, the stakes are high. If you’re like many of our customers, you’re a machine shop responsible for delivering completed assemblies to big OEMs like Boeing, GE, and Honeywell. The above part is machined so that the scallops match a mating, wire EDM’d component.

You need to be confident that the assembly components we manufacture for you will fit into the larger assembly with absolutely no issues. If just one component in a 50-piece assembly doesn’t fit perfectly, your entire timeline could be thrown off, and your critical customer relationships could suddenly be in jeopardy.

As you’re well aware, the more vendors you have manufacturing your assembly components, the higher the risk of a poor fit—especially when your assembly involves mating parts with exceptionally tight tolerances.

At United CGTR, we’re committed to delivering assembly components that fit perfectly the first time—no questions asked. With our full suite of capabilities, we can complete mating parts and multiple assembly components to help you consolidate vendors and reduce risk.

Send Your Assembly Components to Our One-Stop Shop

United CGTR is more than a precision centerless grinding and thread rolling company. Over the years, we’ve grown to provide other crucial services, including Swiss precision machining, CNC profile grinding, and wire EDM. These days, you can think of us as a one-stop shop for many of your manufacturing needs.

Recently, a long-term customer of ours went out of business. They manufactured an assembly for GE and had always relied on United CGTR for just one thread rolled component in that assembly. When a new shop took over manufacturing the assembly, they checked out our website and realized we could make all five components in one of the subassemblies.

They requested a quote and sent a quality assurance team member to our Connecticut shop to assess our capabilities and inspect the subassembly. The five components fit together perfectly. We were happy to help this customer consolidate vendors and reduce risk—and there’s a good chance we can do that for you, too.

The right fit the first time

Generally, if a shop meets all tolerance specifications, components should fit together. But it’s not always that straightforward when dealing with mating parts with exceptionally tight tolerances. In these cases, the components could meet all specifications and still not fit together properly.

When you source mating parts or multiple components in a subassembly from United CGTR, we test the components as we go to ensure that you’ll get a perfect fit the first time.

Skilled team members

It’s important to have the right people working on tight-tolerance mating parts and assembly components. At United CGTR, we train our team members to pay close attention to detail and to know exactly what to look for when manufacturing these types of parts.

Precision lapping services

Lapping is a secondary process used to achieve smooth surfaces with precision tolerances down to a millionth of an inch. We rely on precision lapping services to enable a perfect fit for certain mating parts, such as parts that seal together to prevent air from getting through. Depending on volume, we provide precision lapping services in-house or outsource lapping to one of our most trusted vendors.

If you’re looking to consolidate vendors for your mating parts or assembly components, let United CGTR become your one-stop shop. Request a quote today
